Columbine Falls

Leaving the trailhead at 3:00am, I hiked up four miles, then climbed down a boulder field to reach the falls before dawn. Scrambling through a narrow cavity and balancing on the knife edge of a granite slab enabled me to get the perspective I wanted. I knew it would be worth the effort just to witness first light setting the falls aglow, but I must admit I would have been disappointed if I hadn't come away with the shot!
