Edge of Winter Sky

I was approaching treeline during my descent of Notch Mountain when sunlight began kissing the distant peaks beneath coral-colored clouds.  Because daylight was running out, finding the route that would take me the rest of the way down was no certainty, so the decision to stop and capture this image meant I might be spending another painfully cold night on the mountain. Fortunately, my calculated risk paid off and I was able to pick up the trail and make the long nocturnal hike out of the wilderness.
