Elk Mountains at Dusk

A shimmering twilight view from the 13,664 foot summit of K2 near Capitol Peak in the heart of the Elk Mountains. At this moment, alone in the darkness atop one of Colorado's most remote peaks, I felt as isolated as I have ever felt in my life. An arduous nocturnal downclimb brought me back to the relative comfort of my tent at Capitol Lake.
