Golden Mantled Ground Squirrel

Frequently mistaken for a chipmunk, this ground squirrel's days are numbered in this location near the tiny mountain burg of Gothic. The more aggressive Wyoming ground squirrel, which has been gradually expanding its range across Colorado for over a century, was recently sighted by biologists in the area and will eventually run out the smaller (and cuter) golden mantled ground squirrel.
